Gospel Spotlight: ‘Cornerstone’ gospel artiste King Arthur making waves overseas

The name ‘King Arthur’ may not be very well known as that of a gospel artiste in some parts of Jamaica, but his single‘Cornerstone’ has been causing Christians to dance out of their shoes.
“This song speaks to my life. It’s my testimony. During my musical journey, I have experienced many obstacles, which, at times, made me ask the question whether or not I chose the right path,” said King Arthur.
The artiste, whose given name is Winston Blake, is a British-Jamaican singer and songwriter who hails from Coffee Piece in Clarendon. He said that he lost his father at a tender age, and life, for him, became a challenge. King Arthur said that many persons spoke negatively about the prospects of success for him and his siblings.
“The most profound word spoken was that we would never amount to anything good in life,” said the gospel artiste.
He said that Cornerstone made its debut on the international scene before being played locally.
“At the time of airing, it became controversial because of the rhythm and evoked some thought-provoking questions,” he said.
“The song is getting a lot of airplay in Jamaica, but surprisingly, it has become an anthem in the United States of America and England. It is making its mark in Canada and other Caribbean islands,” King Arthur claimed.
The artiste said that since releasing Cornerstone, he has been doing a lot of travelling as there has been great demand for him to perform it before live audiences.
“I want to commit myself to become more visible in Jamaica because of the many requests for various events. When I am not travelling, I am in the studio working on other projects to be released early next year, 2020. I would also love to do some videos for selected songs from albums I have already done,” said King Arthur.
