Unity Gospel Radio SPREADING THE GOSPEL WORLDWIDE
Unity Gospel Radio is proud to spotlight an extraordinary artist whose legacy has helped shape the soundscape of global gospel music. Joan Flemmings, renowned as The Queen of Jamaican Mento, is celebrating the release of her long-anticipated album “Yahweh”, a monumental musical offering produced by Paul Barclay of Katalys Crew Productions.
Widely recognized as a Gospel Recording Artist, Songwriter, and Minister of Religion, Joan Flemmings’ career spans over four decades. Born in St. Catherine, Jamaica, and preaching since the age of eight, she broke barriers as Jamaica’s first female gospel DJ, pioneering a vibrant genre known as Mento Gospel—an infectious fusion of Jamaican folk rhythms and gospel truth.
Her voice and ministry have transcended borders, leading her across the globe and onto stages shared with gospel giants such as Shirley Caesar, Papa San, Grace Thrillers, Katalys Crew, DJ Nicholas, and Tasha Cobbs-Leonard. Through music and message, she continues to build a legacy of cultural pride, spiritual truth, and creative excellence.
In celebration of this remarkable journey, Unity Gospel Radio, joins the international gospel community in amplifying her newest work. The Yahweh album launch features a Canada-wide tour and a crowning ceremony promoted by West Indian Link Up, honoring Joan with a special award for her global influence in gospel music and ministry.
This recognition not only affirms Joan’s standing as a gospel legend—it also cements her role as a cultural icon, whose impact reaches from Kingston and beyond.
🗣️ Paul B. Katalys, Managing Director of Katalys Music Productions, shares:
“Having had the privilege of unearthing, exposing, and promoting unknown talents to some degree of prominence over the years, the same is true for me as a producer. Joan Flemmings may not be unknown—but she is certainly an unsung hero. It is time to celebrate her for everything she’s given to gospel and to the world.”
